PANADTARAN, San Fernando, Cebu (May 31, 2017) — A women’s organization in this town saw the fruition of its plans to provide members with entrepreneurial opportunities by sewing rags for industries and garments as uniforms and a variety of clothes they could supply to retailers.
This came to fore after Taiheiyo Cement Philippines, Inc. (TCPI) granted the request of the Rural Improvement Club (RIC) to provide five electric sewing machines for its Sewing Livelihood Program.
TCPI donated the equipment through a tripartite memorandum of agreement (MOA) with Barangay Panadtaran and RIC, which is recognized by the barangay and the Municipality of San Fernando – Department of Agriculture.
The company chose the high-precision Hoseki Japanese-branded sewing machines for the project to ensure the sustainability of the program.
Vanessa N. Bongcawil, TCPI community relations and general affairs section head, signed the MOA today with Barangay Captain Ricardo Y. Reluya and RIC president Estela A. Omaque.
TCPI also turned the equipment over and launched the project here ar the Panadtaran Barangay Hall with barangay councilors Gaudioso Amad, Rodulfo Guia, Catalino Baysa, Eduard Natividad and Ross Karina Tanudra.
“Makatabang (kini) sa atong mga kababayen-an. Dako kaayo ni’ng maka-abag sa atoang panginabuhi, sa pagsugod sa pag-angat sa atoang panginabuhian,” quipped Reluya in his message.
(This will be of great help to our women’s sector. This can well augment their livelihood, and improve our everyday living.)
In response, Bongcawil urged RIC to maintain the sewing machines well and maximize these equipment in realizing its purpose of the program in the long-term and to bring about productivity in geometric proportions.
“Nanghinaot kami nga ma sustain gyud ni nga livelihood program ug dili masayang ang gipundar sa kompanya sa Taiheiyo para mapun-an ang inyong panginabuhian ug molambo ang barangay,” she said.
(We hope this livelihood program will be sustainable and the seed money Taiheiyo granted will not be wasted so that you’ll have more for livelihood and the barangay will be progressive.)
