Stakeholders review plans, suggest inclusions in 2017 SDMP

PANADTARAN, San Fernando, Cebu (Dec. 19, 2016) — Barangay captains and school heads from 13 barangays in this town reviewed today the plans for social development that two allied firms operating here would implement separately in 2017.

They also gave suggestions for Taiheiyo Cement Philippines, Inc. (TCPI) and Solid Earth Development Corp. (SEDC) to consider in their respective Social Development Management Programs (SDMP).

At least 28 stakeholder representatives attended the consultation at the South Park function hall of this barangay.

The 2017 SDMP included livelihood projects for barangays South and North Poblacion, Magsico, Pandataran, Tonggo and Tinubdan, and the continuation of trainings for barangay health workers.

It also covered the distribution of school kits and desktop computers to selected schools, and donation of apparatus and equipment that can be used in high school science laboratories for Mining Technology and Geosciences.

The barangay captains gave their imprimatur to the proposed programs but also sought for special trainings for out-of-school youth.

They cited food processing, housekeeping and welding that they preferred would be conducted by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) or its accredited trainers.

Meanwhile, the school heads also sought for support to enhance the facilities of day care centers and the inclusion of the grade one pupils of Tubod Elementary School in the distribution of school kits.

Eng’r. Ramcie Brillante, senior research specialist of the Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB-7), witnessed the consultation with San Fernando Councilor Alexander Alicaway, agriculturist Nelson Soronio and welfare officer Eugenia Tee.

Those present included the barangay captains of Cabatbatan, Magsico, North Poblacion, Tabionan, Tañañas, Tinubdan, Tonggo and Tubod.

The school heads of the elementary schools of Basak, Bugho, Cabatbatan, Ilaya, Magsico, Tabionan, Tañañas and Tinubdan, as well as San Fernando Central School and San Fernando National High School, also actively participated.
