Desktop Support – Cebu Office

Basic Function

The position assists staff with technical support of their desktop, computers, applications, and other related technology. Support includes specification, installation, and testing of computer systems and peripherals within established standards and guidelines. Activities require interaction with application software and operating systems to diagnose and resolve unique, non-recurring problems. The position utilize one-on-one consultancy to end-users. The employee in this position also assists in maintenance and testing of network servers and associated equipment.

Job Responsibilities

  • Takes the responsibility to do the Preventive Maintenance of printers and computers as stated in the procedures to achieve departmental objectives.
  • Check daily performance of computer systems as assigned for degradation.
  • Answer user inquiries regarding computer software or hardware operation to resolve problems.
  • Answer user inquiries regarding computer software or hardware operation to resolve problems.
  • Install and perform minor repairs to hardware, software, or peripheral equipment, following design or installation specifications.

  • Update computer and printer inventory.
  • Read technical manuals, confer with users, or conduct computer diagnostics to investigate and resolve problems or to provide technical assistance and support.
  • Refer major hardware or software problems or defective products to vendors or technicians for service.
  • Maintain a clean workplace.
  • Develop training materials and procedures, or train users in the proper use of basic hardware or software for proper use and function (e.g. how to properly shutdown).
  • Confer with superiors, users to establish requirements for new systems or modifications.

Job Qualification

  • Associate or a degree in computer science, information technology, or any computer related course.
  • At least 1 year previous experience in customer support, computer operations, or another related area.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; capable of explaining simple procedures in writing or verbally.
  • Familiar with operating systems and its command/utilities at a user level; can edit files, issue commands, find user’s home directories, navigate through the file system, and use I/O redirection
  • Able to follow instructions well, realistic, dependable, and is a good team player.
