Employees trained to save lives

SAN FERNANDO (June 10, 2022)New employees have learned first aid and life support at work, while existing first aid responders have updated their skills to save lives at the workplace in various facilities and sections at Taiheiyo Cement Philippines, Inc. (TCPI).

The Environment and Safety Division (ESD) organized the training as part of the company’s Occupational First Aid Training 2022 Occupational Safety and Health Program, disclosed ESD deputy manager Dwight P. Avila.

“TCPI gives prime on safety training,” he declared.

“It is paramount that our employees, especially those newly hired and assigned by our contractors, know the techniques how to respond to industrial related injuries and undertake the right rescue methods,” he pointed out.

Existing Emergency Response Team (ERT) members sharpen their saw in saving lives.

Company nurse Fredbert Cortes handled the refresher course that Emergency Response Team (ERT) members from every department attended last May 25, 2022 at the company training room.

Twelve new TCPI employees underwent Occupational First Aid Training and Basic Life Support yesterday, June 9, and today along with 19 employees of Solid Earth Development Corp. (SEDC) and some contractual staff.

Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) personnel based in San Fernando conducted the training that included:

• Steps in doing cardio-pulmonary resuscitation;

• Factors to consider in doing first aid;

• First Aid for various common incidents/situations such as burn, drowning, choking and myocardial infarction;

• When to do CPR and when to stop;

• How to perform the recovery position;

• Bandaging techniques; and

• Carry techniques.

Participants received certificates after the training.
