TONGGO, San Fernando, Cebu (May 21, 2021) – Two allied corporations in San Fernando pooled resources to concrete 200 meters of a portion of a barangay road in San Fernando going upland to the integrated public school here.
Solid Earth Development Corp. (SEDC) and Taiheiyo Cement Philippines, Inc. (TCPI) supported the project of the local government as part of their respective support to local infrastructure programs.
SEDC provided sand and gravel, as well as the cost of labor, while TCPI provided 500 bags of cement for the first phase of the project last year that covered 100 meters, according to Zeny L. Tapuyao, SEDC community relations coordinator.
The second phase this year continued with the same commitments from both companies, she added.
SEDC quarries limestone in the uplands of Tonggo that TCPI uses in the manufacture at its plant four types of Grand-branded cement products.
“Kung naa’y mga kompaniya nga pareho sa Solid Earth nga naghatag ug bili sa mga komunidad palibot sa ilang quarry, dako kaayo og panalangin para sa amoa ug kami mapasalamaton kaayo,” remarked Virgilio P. Siarot, Tonggo’s chieftain.
(If there are companies like Solid Earth that values the communities around its quarry, it is a big blessing for us, and we are very thankful.)
Siarot and Irenea Villamero, a resident of the area, inspected today the progress of the project with Gines T. Boltron, SEDC community relations officer and Tapuyao.
