Taiheiyo suppliers clean up Luknay

Luknay creek cleanup

TAIHEIYO Cement Philippines, Inc. (TCPI) continues to clean up the Luknay Creek beside the company's manufacturing complex in San Fernando to ensure a sustained balance in the ecosystems of the community.

A team of 28 volunteer employees gathered on March 18 some 30 (cement) bags of trash along the waterway at the south side of the compound in Barangay South Poblacion all the way to the coastline.

They included volunteers from TCPI suppliers Metro Cebu Resources, Inc. (MCRI) and Stephen Gabison Tan (SGT) Company, according to Dwight Avila, the company's environment and safety division section head.

The initiatives to clean‐up Luknay and nearby coastal areas have notably reduced the garbage indiscriminately disposed by residents and migrants.

Organizers noted a significant reduction of solid waste materials that volunteers collected compared to previous similar activities.

TCPI adopted Luknay Creek for more than 10 years now as its contribution to the government's Adopt‐an‐Estero program.

Luknay has also been included in the company's yearly Save Our Seas (SOS) coastal clean‐up campaign.
