Barangay health workers culmination

Some 145 barangay health workers (BHW) in San Fernando learned more about blood vessels of human beings and the diseases that can affect them and the human heart.

They gathered on Dec. 28 for their 4th Quarter Health Seminar that served as their culmination activity at the multi-purpose recreation center of Taiheiyo Cement Philippines, Inc. (TCPI).

TCPI physician Dr. Ildebrando Estella conducted the seminar, while company nurse Fredbert Cortes facilitated the workshop for the BHWs from the 13 impact barangays of the company.

The culminating activity that followed featured a contest of Christmas carols (daygon) the BHWs from North Poblacion, South Poblacion, Panadtaran, Tabionan, Tinubdan and Tubod participated in.

North Poblacion carolers won P3,000 as they grabbed the first place, followed by Tinubdan that got P2,000 for being at second place, and P1,000 for Tubod that placed third.

Dr. Estella and Vanessa N. Bongcawil, TCPI community and general affairs officer, handed certificates of attendance and Christmas gift packs to all BHWs who attended the culmination.

Participants also came from barangays Basak, Bugho, Cabatbatan, Ilaya, Magsico, Tañañas and Tonggo.

TCPI organized the activity as part of its information, education and communication initiatives under its Social Development and Management Program.
