100 employees including Barangay Officials plant 5,700 seedlings around Taiheiyo facilities

 

Some 100 employees of the Taiheiyo Group and Barangay Officials and Workers planted some 5,700 seedlings of good quality trees around the cement plant in San Fernando last June 29.


Taiheiyo Cement Philippines, Inc. (TCPI) and Solid Earth Development Corp. (SEDC) conducted the semi-annual activity jointly to mark the just concluded Environment Month in June with the campaign of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR).

 

They planted most of the seedlings prepared from the company’s nursery in barangay Magsico in the buffer zones of company's cement manufacturing facilities in Barangay South Poblacion and along the provincial road going to Tinubdan.

 

These included 3,000 Mahogany seedlings and 2,000 in Aurey species, disclosed Michael A. Loguiber, a staff of Solid Earth Development Corporation (SEDC) that organized the activity.

 

Another group joined Basak barangay officials and residents in planting 400 Nangka seedlings, 200 Avocado seedlings and 100 Neemtree within the barangay.

 

The tree planters from Taiheiyo included SEDC, Safety Department, Medical Department, TCPI HR&A, QC, and Civil

 

Also, South Poblacion Barangay Officials, FA Manpower Services and Caretakers.

 

Nursery personnel already dug holes for easier and faster planting, while on standby were First-aid kits and the TCPI Patrol car to ensure that any untoward incident will have been attended to right away.
