Prime movers in environmental initiatives and community development programs of Taiheiyo Cement Philippines, Inc. (TCPI) and Solid Earth Development Corporation (SEDC) recently shared in public what they have championed for over the past decade in San Fernando, Cebu.

Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB-7) regional director Roger de Dios joined and introduced them during the “Ikaw ug Ang Mina” program over Bantay Radyo last Oct. 18 and 25, recognizing the outstanding programs they have been doing.

They shared on Oct. 18 how they have been consistently been rehabilitating sites where SEDC used to mine out earth materials use for cement production under their TCPI-SEDC joint Environmental Protection and Enhancement Program(EPEP).

They told the public the technical interventions they did to make sure the TCPI plant in South Poblacion operates in environmental-friendly conditions, as well as mitigating measures they undertook on environmental concerns raised to them by the stakeholders.

TCPI operates with an Environmental Management System (EMS) attuned to the latest edition of ISO 14001 (2008-2011) that is integrated with ISO 9001:2008 for quality management and OHSAS 18001:2007 for occupational health and safety.

By Oct.25, their sharing focused on the initiatives they have been doin under their two companies’ Social Development and Management Program (SDMP) that promoted health, education, nutrition and giving a hand in building better communities.

Representing TCPI in the radio program were Esther P. Cola, senior manager for administration and human resources; her assistant Vanessa N. Bongcawil; Engr. Nilo R. Uap, senior manager for environment and safety.

Engr. Delfin A. Campo, manager for operations, and community relations chief Gines T. Boltron represented SEDC in the live discussion of “Ikaw ug Ang Mina” hosted by MGB-7 administrative officer Mr. Eddie E. Llamedo.
