Cement plant’s ISO certification renewed
CERTIFICATION International (Phils.) Inc. (CI) has approved the continued certification of the Integrated Management System (IMS) of Taiheiyo Cement Philippines, Inc. (TCPI) after the latter met the standards ser by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).
The same ISO governing body renewed for this year the separate certification of the Occupational Health and Safety Assesment Series (OHSAS) 18001:2007.
Renato V. Navarrete, CI managing director, told TCPI management representative  Nilo R. Yap that the CI ISO Governing Board based its decision on the results of the surveillance audit  CI conducted on its  IMS on October last year and the corrective actions Tcpi took following such audit.
The IMS incorporates into a unified system the three ISO-based management systems  Tcpi has been adopting 10 years now. These are ISO 9001:2000 for quality management system (QMS,) ISO 14001:2004 for environment management system (EMS) and OHSAS 18001:2007, he disclosed.
Navarrete encouraged TCPI  to consider taking actions on some opportunities discussed during the audit as these would escalate the effectiveness of its IMS.
