500 residents get health care
Free check-up, medicines given in mission

Some 500 residents in the upland barangay of Bugho  in San Fernando benefited from a medical mission.

Taiheiyo Cement Philppines, Inc. (TCPI) provided the mission with medicines and logistics with the support of Solid Earth Development Corporation (SEDC) and the latter’s contractor, Triple 8 Development Corporation. SEDC supplies TCPI with earth materials  needed to manufacture cement.

Most of the illnesses of the residents that were diagnosed by the health professionals were hypertension, muscle pains, upper respiratory tract infection and gastritis, said Dr. Ildebrando E. Estella, TCPI company physician who led the team of doctors and paramedics.

The beneficiaries included 242 adults and 250 children.

At least 141 had pre-registered at the Bugho Health Center, but 351 more went to Bugho  Elementary School to seek medical attention.

Bugho Barangay Captain Pedro Sebial  thanked SEDC, TCPI and T8DC for their collaboration that benefited his barangay.

“As we are located far from the town proper and the public hospital  in Minglanilla, hardly do our residents here get medical attention,” he said.

“Not only did they have the opportunity to consult  a doctor, they further brought home medicines that would help them recover from their ailment,” he added.

Barangay councilors, health workers, teachers and tanods assisted the mission, during which TCPI donated three wall clocks for the barangay hall and elementary school.

SEDC director Takashi Sugiyama oversaw the mission with TCPI human resource (HR)/ administration senior manager  Esther P. Cola and SEDC HR/administration manager  Emylita B. Ortega.

They also helped in giving the patients medicines the attending doctors prescribed.
