Outstanding students in San Fernando recognized
 MEDALS. Outstanding graduates in San Fernando in school year 2009-2010 proudly show their Taiheiyo medals.
OUTSTANDING students from 29 public schools received recognition for academic and leadership excellence from two firms operating in San Fernando, Cebu.
Taiheiyo Cement Philippines, Inc. (TCPI) and Solid Earth Development Corp. (SEDC) granted a total of 2,493 medals for the graduates of school year 2009-2010 and all deserving undergraduates who excelled in their class during the schools' recent graduation ceremonies.
Both companies will soon choose among the top elementary graduates from 12 barangays for the next batch of high school scholars, as well as three additional college scholars.
Of the 2,493 medals TCPI and SEDC awarded, some 1,753 medals were distributed in 21 elementary schools and 710 in seven public high schools, according to Gines Boltron, SEDC community relations officer.
The seven secondary schools included the National High Schools of Balud with 120 awardees, Greenhills with 90 and Magsico with 100.
Pitalo had 100 awardees, while Sangat had 150 awardees, South Poblacion with 45 and Tubod with 105 awardees.
Some 30 graduates of North Poblacion Day Care Center were also given recognition.
